Awesome clearance & free teaching stuff

I needed to run to the grocery store today to get a few things and before stopping there we decided to run into Target to check out the clearance sections. Luckly, they finally clearanced the last of their school supplies to 70% off, so we hit that up while we had the chance. I was finally able to get the kids their "Trapper Keeper" type binders with lots of storage, each child 4 designer folders in put in the binders, Elmer's sparkle glues, colored glue sticks, two book covers, and 2 cute bendable plastic rulers. The total would have been $63 if I had paid regular price, but due to waiting patiently for the clearance....I only paid $19 for everything. Now that I homeschool, I refuse to pay full price for most of their school supplies, because I don't have to have them by a certain day.

Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go right back to sleep. I'm glad, because I got online and found where an atheist facebook group was sharing a link to get 18 free science DVDs and a book for absolutely free. I ordered those for my kids and us to watch on those rainy NorCal days. I also ordered several other teacher resources for learning for the kids from various places. I figured that just because my kids are homeschooled doesn't mean that they shouldn't get the same benefits as a child going to a public school would. I plan to search online a bit more this evening before going to bed. Anyway, I better get off here now and get to helping the kids finish up their last few subjects of the day.

Another So Cal Day...

Today, I spent some time outside racking leaves outta the sand and bit of grass we have, watered everything, and swept the outdoor carpeted areas. It was cloudy off and on today, but we never got any rain, pout. My hubby and I swore that we heard several rumbles of thunder this morning, but nothing. We had dinner together and then my hubby was off to work for the night. I and the kids went to the pool for a bit for some exercise. I did notice one difference outside today. Normally, the homeless from the dry river area in the back of the RV park walk up and down the side road of the RV park during the day off and on, but there were none that I noticed today. It is our guess that they are probably purchasing drugs from someone in the park because it is usually a constant flow of people. Some of the women, well, the way that they are dressed, I seriously wonder if there is some prostitution going on as well. It is really fishy, but I'm not getting involved in that mess, as long as they leave my shit alone. So, I took a few pictures of the kids playing at the pool and off the view from beyond the pool, and a few cloud pics from today, as well as some of the family at the brewery yesterday. Enjoy!

Oggis Brewery & Storm

Today my hubby planned a special outing for us and took us out for lunch to Oggis Brewery. It was so good! The food was amazing. I had the fish & chips with salad lunch special, he and the kids had pizza. He also got a growler to take home for tonight. I was tired this morning so I put my laundry in one of the RV park machines to wash and then put it out on the clothing racks to dry. When we left Oggis half of the sky was dark. It was looking really bad and I was just hoping to make it home in time to get my dry laundry inside. As soon as I got outta the truck, my son and I ran and started getting the laundry. It sprinkled hard, but didn't really rain more then that. The lightening was fun to watch. You can usually see it far better here in the desert when there is lightening, then you could back home in Arkansas. That was hours ago and it is still really cloudy. I would love more rain, but I don't know if we will be so lucky. Tonight, I look forward to a glass of wine, reading some more of my 50 Shades of Gray, and relaxing. Now, if I could only find someone who would give me a massage...fat chance.
I tried downloading a video of the kids playing at the ocean in NorCal yesterday, but it wouldn't download. So, in it's place, enjoy some random SoCal graffiti.

Primate Lesson

So, the kids learned about Primates today in Zoology II today in homeschool. Due to it being the only Christian based text they are using this year, I had to skip reading the religious parts and in their place, we watched various youtube videos teaching about why primates are more intelligent the other animals. There were some really cute monkey videos out there. We discussed how they can walk much like humans, show emotions like humans, share, cooperate, and show that they know when someone is being unfair.
I cannot believe how well our tomato plants are doing. We only have 3 of them this summer and I have picked 4 regular sized tomatoes off of them in the last week. As long as you water the crap outta your plants and grass, you can almost grow anything here in the desert.
Went to get a few groceries at Albertsons today. I came home and got so pissed. The idiot manager who checked me out asked for my member card phone number. I gave it to him. He was like, is the area code 760? I was like, "No, it's 479". He was like "fine, I got it" and I paid and then got home and saw that I had overpaid $13 on my bill because he was too lazy to type in my phone number. I called and was told to bring in my receipt to get it fixed tomorrow.
So, I found a wine that I love called "Turning Leaf" and the type of wine is called Sweet Riesling. It has a sweet fruity wonderful taste without nasty corn syrup. I love coupons and even had a $2 off coupon for the wine. I wouldn't saved $ at the store if that loser hadn't screwed up my bill.
One a last note, I am trying to talk my grandmother into visiting us for a couple of days in December when we return to Eureka, CA. It is the most beautiful place with all the secluded beaches, wonderful ocean views, and amazing redwood forests. I told her that that was all I wanted for Christmas was to have her visit and take a few days off to get out of Arkansas. I think that everyone should see the beauty there at least once in their life. If you haven't been to the Northern California coast in Humboldt County, then you don't know what you're missing! She is always nervous about leaving to do anything without my grandfather, but I know that he would be just fine for a few days and my aunt is really close, along with my cousin, if he needed anything. She has even lived in Southern California before, but has never even been to the ocean before. I couldn't imagine. So, I am trying to get her to take flight here sometime after Dec. 1st, when we are in Eureka. I told her that we could pick her up in San Francisco or Sacramento at the airport. Hopefully she will do it and Christian can plan ahead and take off a few days while she visits. Below are a few pics taken in Eureka, CA. Enjoy!

Stressful Day with Random Pics !!

Today has been a super busy day. The kids deep cleaned their room and then we took all the rugs along with bedding and clothes we had from yesterday and went to the laundry mat. I really don't enjoy doing to the laundry mat for various reasons. One reason is what happened today. These guys were loading like 10 huge trash bags full of laundry outta the dryers. I laugh at them and I'm like...how many days of laundy is that?? They end up confessing that they had a major bedbug problem in their 4000 sq ft home after the maid cleaned their home. They told me to make sure not to stay in any hotels in the area, even the nicest Vegas hotels, because their is a bedbug epidemic here in the area.
So, the kids worked on schoolwork while I caught up on laundry. Then we came home and I watered the dry bits of grass we have among all the sand, watered our tomato plants, baby palm tree, baby pine tree, and  flowers. We all took turns taking the baby tortoises outside to graze. Then I helped start the grill for dinner, cleaned up, and did the dishes. I make hummingbird food this evening and did more home school with the kids and paid bills. I really hate bills, by the way. The magenta on our printer just went out completely and now I cannot print the cursive worksheets for the kids today. Grrr, it is always something! I am feeling really stressed today.
So, of another note, I will end with this...we had a great pop up thunderstorm this late afternoon. We actually had loud thunder and lightening, which they rarely get here in the high desert. It was a nice change. Now, time to get my arse in the shower and finish homeschooling. A traveling homeschooling moms job is NEVER done....never....ever. I need a vacation from my travels...lol.
Below are a few random pics for fun. The first is a house that I took a pic of outta the blue that I wish I was the owner of. The second is a road runner in the RV park that we always see running around. The third is an Amargosa Toad, which are an endangered species, but seem to love it around our RV at night. You should here those suckers talk!!  Enjoy....

Facebook Issues and Busy Day

So, last night the craziest thing happened on my Facebook account. I reported a nudity pic that someone posted on their wall and then commented on it "This is inappropriate for Facebook". Needless to say, Facebook decided that all of my friends needed to not only know that I commented on that inappropriate pic, but they also felt that all of my friends needed to view that pic as well. It created a real problem from one of my friend who was showing his mother around on Facebook and that pic popped up. Wonderful. Then he was so pissed, he put a mean post on my Facebook wall. I was upset for a while and in tears, but decided to learn from it and just move on.
Today, we got up and went to Target. Most of the $1 section in front was 70% off and so I got a few things for the kids from school. Then found two nice extendable dog leashes that were 70% off for our pups. It is almost 7pm and I still have to do science, social studies and cursive with the kids, plus put laundry outside on the drying racks to dry....I guess overnight. I need a glass of wine! It is a busy life, but I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Everyday Life and Democratic Convention

Today we aren't really doing anything unusual. We went to the grocery store, WinCo. I did the daily laundry with my non electric laundry machine. Then we got an unhealthy lunch from McDonalds. The kids decided they didn't want to go to the homeschool group park day today, but would rather go swimming in the RV park's swimming pool, so after my hubby goes to work this evening...I'm gonna go to the pool with the kids. I'm not sure if I will swim with them or read from my "Fifty shades of Gray" book. We drove by the DMV today while we were out. The line was way out the door. Back home were I'm from in Greenwood, AR there was only maybe 1 or 2 people in front of me at any given time. I couldn't imagine that kind of line.
I am sort of down about my hubby's schedule the next few days. He works like four 12 hour shifts the next 4 days, then he is only off 1 day, then we works 3 more. That will be tough for the kids and I because we will miss spending time with him and will be homeschooling for days on end.
Last night we watched the Democratic Convention over glasses of cheap wine. It was enjoyable and refreshing. I don't know what I would've done if it hadn't been for Obama's college loan income based repayment. One day, in like 18 more years, I have hope that my student loans will be gone. It's really not fair when people work their ass of in college and graduate school and end up in major debt as a reward for their hard work.
